Unit Description[edit]

The Wolfsbane Battalion was mercenary command which was a Wolf's Dragoons Veteran Combined Arms Battalion.

Operational History[edit]

Formation[edit]

The Wolfsbane was created in 3140, the unit was considered to be a special force among the Dragoons when was established.[1]

Since 3140, Wolfsbane would join the Gamma Regiment. Formed like other Wolf's Dragoon Strike Battalions, the unit was equipped mainly by Davion salvage taken during the Draconis Reach Campaign. Staff with members from Gamma's other two Strike Battalions. At the time they were first new combat formation in the Dragoons since 3129, and the last one created on the Dark Age Era.[2]

First Actions in Draconis Combine Invasion of Federated Suns[edit]

The Wolfsbane was deployed with other Dragoons to Federated Suns world of Glenmora in June 3140.[3] Where it and other Dragoons face of with the 4th Davion Guards and the 2nd Robinson Rangers.[4] In there first noted action, they Wolfsbane was deployed in during fighting near Pains of Ash. In the ravines system near the mountains, the battalion conducted a holding action against the Rangers to allow the other Dragoons to past safely while taking modest damage in their first significant action.

Late 3140s-3150s[edit]

The Wolfsbane was stationed on the Dragon's Tongue world of O'Fallon when, the 12 April 3149, the Dawn Guards attacked it during Operation PERCEVAL, to reclaim it. The Dawn Guards, after a brief and decisive battle, succeeded, forcing the Wolfsbane to retreat.[5]

Thr Wolfsbane would continue to see action against the Federated Suns until 3151. After receiving the orders to terminate contract, they left Combine Space. As the unit was too far to participate on the Battle of Terra, it moved to Savannah, where all Dragoons' survivors gathered. By then, the new Dragoons commander, Colonel Henry Kincaid was forced to deactivate all other regiments, leaving the Wolfsbane and Tarantulas Battalion the only active Dragoons' units.[6]

Soon after the Dragoons settled on Ilion, Kincaid left there the Wolfsbane, using it to train new Dragoons and opposing force for newly created units, like Epsilon Regiment, a function previously realized by Alpha Regiment (Wolf's Dragoons).[7]

Composition History[edit]

The Wolfsbane was an exception of the Dragoons: most of their units predominantly fielded Clan and Lyran equipment, but the Wolfsbane, equipped using salvage gathered during the push into Federated Suns territory, fielded mainly machines of Federated Suns origins[9]; When first formed, was formed around Star of 'Mechs (5), a squadron of 15 Hovertanks, primarily Musketeers, with support of full star of 25 battle armor. The unit was noted when first formed and began to train on Thestria that unit was too slow due to use of Thumper Artillery Vehicles by other officers of sister Battalion, Spider's Web. [10]
