The York system is the location of at least one inhabited world or construct, and as of 3151 was capital of the York Province of the Lyran Commonwealth.[1]

Planetary History[edit]

Second Exodus[edit]

The colonies of York and Lancaster were founded in 2305 by Scots-Irish refugees fleeing from the war between the Stewart Confederation and the Free Worlds League. Unfortunately for the colonists, they were discovered by the Protectorate of Donegal in 2346, who gave the colonists a choice between joining the protectorate or being invaded; the colonists instead chose to board their old ships and run, relocating to the world of Loxley.[4]

Star League[edit]

In the mid-2600s, York's powerful dukes, House Ryder, attempted to secede from the Commonwealth, attempting to use their personal troops to back their claim. After the LCAF put down the attempted revolt, the Lyran loyalists were integrated into the LCAF as the York Regulars while House Ryder was stripped of its title.[40]

FedCom Civil War[edit]

During the FedCom Civil War, York was the site of a Loyalist trap to capture and destroy Prince Victor Steiner-Davion and his forces. They had been making their way through the Lyran Alliance during the third wave when they arrived on York in 3064. Loyalist General Maria Esteban placed most of her Battle Group in concealed bunkers while using the group's two militia forces as bait. Prince Victor dispatched his Sixth Crucis Lancers to engage the Alarion and Carlisle APM, while having the Prince's Men and the ad hoc Outland Legion secure a headquarters site and supplies.

However, the Eleventh Arcturan Guards RCT conducted an orbital drop behind the pursuing Sixth Crucis Lancers to cut them off. Prince Victor, seeing no way to prevail in this trap, order to withdraw and meet up 500 km from their original drop point, while being pursued by Katrina Steiner-Davion's Loyalist forces. Victor brought time for his forces to attempt make it to their landing zones, dueling Eleventh Arcturans' commander Colonel Linda McDonald.

Ultimately, York was a loss for Prince Victor's campaign against his sister's tyranny, nearly being killed in the process. General Maria Esteban had dispatched two of her Fox-class WarShips, to run down Prince Victor's DropShips fleeing the planet. However, most of Victor's task force managed to escape, but they left 2,000 Allied forces behind as prisoners.[41]

Dark Age[edit]

Following the Lyran Commonwealth's defeat of rogue General Diego Widmer and the Buena Collective, Archon Trillian Steiner chose to move the provincial capital world to York rather than return it to Widmer's former stronghold.[1]
