===Formation===
The '''Second Free Worlds Legionnaires''' was built in [[3043]]. A large portion of the unit came from applicants who wanted to be a part of the Legionnaires after the impassioned defense of [[Suzano]] by the [[First Free Worlds Legionnaires]], though the core of the unit came from veterans of the [[Defenders of Andurien]]. <ref name=FMFWL37>''Field Manual: Free Worlds League'', p. 37, "2nd Free Worlds Legionnaires Unit Profile"</ref>

The unit's first deployment was to [[Al Jubaylah]]. There, they assisted in restoring order after a popular religious leader was assassinated. Though they only faced two regiments of [[infantry]] and a mercenary [[BattleMech]] company under the command of a rebel general, the Second acquitted itself well. Casualties were light, even after storming a pair of fortifications.<ref name=FMFWL37/>

After that campaign, they were rotated to [[Sadurni]] to assist in the defense of the [[Duchy of Andurien]]. Though they had received a great deal of upgrades and new equipment, the Knights eluded them for several years. The Stygians spent most of the [[Jihad]] guarding [[Corinne Marik]]. After that they garrisoned [[Marik]] for several years, but their strength allowed the Army of the Marik-Stewart Commonwealth commanders to redeploy the Stygians to [[New Olympia]]. There they garrisoned the world and took part in the cleanup of radioactive materials and the restoration of the capital city's power grid.
