Campaign Ribbons[edit]

These ribbons represent contribution and/or dedication in targeted campaigns, i.e., group efforts to achieve a defined wiki goal within a stated operational range of dates. The base ribbons depicted here are individualized by devices centered on the ribbon, while the ribbons themselves differ between contributors (Editors making at least one edit during the campaign), warriors (Editors making a minimum number of edits during the campaign), and field commanders (the Editor who defined and led the campaign). Ribbons may only be awarded by the campaign's field commander or an Admin.

See the Campaign Ribbon Gallery

Editors' Awards[edit]

These awards are granted by any member to any other member, with no nomination process necessary. They should be awarded on the recipient's talk page, along with a statement (and possible link) as to why the award is being received. The recipient may then copy it to his Awards Board (or the awarding editor may ask an Admin to do so). If the recipient has not yet had an Awards Board installed, the awarding Editor must request an Admin to do so (rather than install it on the recipient's page unrequested).

Precedence[edit]

Awards are displayed in the Awards Board posted by an Admin on a User Page (one of the few authorized reasons for modifying a User's page by another member). The order of precedence (vice chronological award order) will be followed in this board, as stated:

  • Founder's Outstanding Member of the Year Award
  • Founder's Superior Editor of the Year Award
  • Founder's Superior Writer of the Year Award

  • Diligence Award
  • Tireless Contributor Award
  • Community Service Award
  • Superior Article Award

  • (Campaign Ribbons, in chronological order of precedence)

Awards in bold are Founder's awards, italicized are Admins' awards and underlined are Editors' awards.

Devices[edit]

Except where otherwise stated, multiple receipts of awards are displayed with the appropriate devices:

  • 1st award: ribbon (no attachments)
  • 2nd award: 1 bronze oakleaf
  • 3rd award: 2 bronze oakleaves
  • 4th award: 3 bronze oakleaves
  • 5th award: 1 silver oakleaf
  • 6th award: 2 silver oakleaves
  • 7th award: 3 silver oakleaves
  • 8th award: 4 silver oakleaves
  • 9th award: 1 silver coin
  • 10th award: 1 gold coin

Additional receipts (beyond the 10th) of the same award lead the original '10th award' ribbon to be 'retired' to the Editor's Retired Awards Board, with a new '1st award' ribbon taking its place on the Active Board.

Founder's Frame: Admin and Editor awards may be granted by the Founder, Nicjansma, as he sees fit. Due to their special nature, they are not recognized as additional awards and regular devices are not utilized. Instead, the ribbon with the Founder's device, the Gold Frame (or "Founder's Frame"), is displayed separately. If multiple Founder's devices are received, they are displayed in the Retired Awards Board. Founder's Devices take precedence over their immediate counterparts in the display. Awards not eligible for the Founder's device are:

  • Founder's Consistent Service Award
  • Founder's Outstanding Member of the Year Award
  • Founder's Superior Editor of the Year Award
  • Founder's Superior Writer of the Year Award
  • Founder's Exceptional Recruiter of the Year Award
  • Recruiter Award
  • Edit Count Awards
  • Time In Service Awards
  • Assistance Appreciated Award
  • Direction Appreciated Award

Boards[edit]

Boards are used to display the acquired awards on the user's main page. They (and the awards on them) may only be placed there by an Admin or the user him/herself. The code provided below is to be placed anywhere desired by the user on that main page, with award code (as depicted in the above individual galleries) displayed by precedence and every third award followed by the <br> code. The final row of awards will be balanced automatically by the template.

As discussed above (in Devices), some awards may be 'retired' to the Retired Awards Board. When that board is employed, use the same code guidance as for the Awards Board.

Code: Awards Board[edit]

Copy the following code onto the user's main page:

<div id="awardsboard"><div id="awardsboardheader">Awards Board</div>

replace this with the ribbon code

<br> </div>

Code: Retired Awards Board[edit]

Copy the following code onto the user's main page:

<div id="awardsboard"><div id="awardsboardheader">Retired Awards Board</div>

replace this with the ribbon code

<br> </div>

Nomination Procedures[edit]

Each category of award (Founder's, Admins', Editors', Automatic) has its own procedures for recognition and some awards within the categories differ in those procedures, as well. Each award's requirements are provided above, in the award descriptions, but for summary purposes, they are generalized below:

  • Founder's Award: nominated by Admins to Nicjansma, and presented by him directly. Pre-nominations may be considered by individual Admins, for further nomination to Nic.
  • Admins' Awards: nominated to an active Admin, either by an interested second party or by the specific individual, some of these awards require Awards Committee consensus, while others may be individually awarded by an Admin whom feel it is appropriate. Those forwarded for committee consensus are generally presented by the nominating Admin.
  • Editors' Awards: these are presented by any Editor to any other Editor (unregistered IPs being the exception to this), as deemed appropriate by the individual. They may not be self-awarded.
  • Automatic Awards: these two awards may be provided by any other Editor, or self-awarded (and updated) by the receiving Editor. As these are received for accomplishing set benchmarks (edits or time), there is no negative connotation associated with self-awarding (as long as the benchmarks are actually met).

Awards Committee[edit]

Some of the Admins' Awards require consensus of the Awards Committee. The committee is made up of the active body of Admins, with a required quorum of three Admins coming to a consensus before the award is provided. (The exception to the quorum requirement of three is if the Founder is one of the attending Admins.) An Editor is nominated for an award to an active administrator, either on that admin's talk page or through board email (ex: Special:EmailUser/AdminName). The receiving Admin delivers the nomination to the committee for approval. If consensus for the award cannot be reached, the committee may agree to choose an alternate award, if appropriate. Once consensus has been reached, the nominating Admin shall inform the recipient upon the recipient's talk page (with the displayed award) and on the recipient's main page (providing the Awards Board, where necessary).
