Cyc, your comment about the ''[[Epimetheus (BattleMech)|Epimetheus]]'' article focusing too much on the DNI system was right. I made a separate article for it, and the ''Epimetheus'' article is much better for it.

Hi Cyc, question for you.  In the Vengeance Incorporated article, you have listed a Battle Armor, which I assume is somewhere.  Do you have source for this, I've found mention OF a armor, but no name. BattleCorp story? -- [[User:Wrangler|Wrangler]] 20:03, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

==Maultier/Celentaro==

Good morning! I noticed your comment on checking TRO3058 for the Maultier fluff in relation to Celentaro. I dug out my copy of TRO3058 (I'd misread it earlier in the day as TRO3085, which I don't own) and TRO3058 says Celeano, not Celentaro. Celeano, sometimes spelt [[Celano]], is a different world in the Concordat, and the fluff on Celeano in [[the Periphery (sourcebook)]] matches the other half of the content I removed from [[Celentaro]]. I think a part of the confusion is that Celeano is talked about and has an entry in the first Periphery sourcebook (p. 85) but doesn't appear on the maps in that edition. If you look at the maps of the Concordat in [[Handbook: Major Periphery States]] there's no mention of Celano on the maps up to and including 3025, but it appears in the 3040 map on p. 127. Celentaro also appears on the map on p.121 of the Concordat during the Star League era, whereas the entry for Celeano in the original Periphery sourcebook begins "From what little information is available, Celeano appears to be a warm, temperate world settled sometime in the early 3000s." I need to ask on the CBT forum if Celano is the correct spelling or Celeano, though... [[User:BrokenMnemonic|BrokenMnemonic]] 08:40, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

: That's fine, I was at work so added it as a note to check when I got home as the ''Maultier'' entry here spelt as Celentaro and was unsure if that was what the TRO3058 actually listed. The upgrade versions of it delete the mention of which planet it was found on entirely.[[User:Cyc|Cyc]] 09:28, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

::I wonder if the upgrade versions deliberately omit any mention of it because the writers weren't sure themselves? I've just asked over on the CBT forum about some map discrepancies, and I mention at the same time that Celeano is spelt as Celano on some maps. It'll be interesting to see if I get a response to that, and if I do, what they say. The idea of checking the upgraded TROs never occured to me - I don't own them, so they fall into a blind spot for me. Do you consider the revised and upgraded versions of TRO3058 worth purchasing in addition to the original edition? Getting my head about the differences between the various versions of the TROs has been quite a challenge since I started getting back into buying the books. [[User:BrokenMnemonic|BrokenMnemonic]] 10:41, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

:::Well, Sarna operates from New Trumps Old viewpoint but generally the new versions have much superior and better error checked fluff. 3058U for example also has Battle Armor added. [[User:Cyc|Cyc]] 22:14, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

This applies to more than just ''[[Immortal Spirit]]'', but I'm really impressed with how you follow others' edits and then add so much more value. Small edits count; they build up. Hi Cyc,<br>

As the resident ComStar expert here, do you know where I can find anything out about the ''Leander'', which was apparently a ''[[Lola III]]''-class destroyer operated by the Com Guard and destroyed during the battle for Luzerne? I've been through everything I can think of - the Twilight of the Clans novels, Shattered Sphere, Era Report: 3062, Historical Turning Points: Luzerne, the Twilight of the Clans scenario pack and the Dragon Roars scenario pack, and I can't find any mention of the ship anywhere. [[User:BrokenMnemonic|BrokenMnemonic]] ([[User talk:BrokenMnemonic|talk]]) 14:41, 30 December 2013 (PST)

::OK - so it was genuinely a ComStar Lola-class destroyer, and was lost during BULLDOG, but it looks as if the comment on the Lola page about it being destroyed at Luzerne is a red herring. == MWO Hero 'Mechs ==

Hi, as our resident MWO expert, can you give a list of [[Hero 'Mechs]] with links to their fluff? Because, surprisingly, I haven't been very successful in digging up either a list of Hero 'Mechs or the associated fluff texts that Randall Bills had declared canonical. Either MWO is hiding them from me, or I'm looking in wildly wrong parts of the MWO website... [[User:Frabby|Frabby]] ([[User talk:Frabby|talk]]) 01:00, 19 October 2016 (PDT)

:I shall try, but its not you, the MWO website is not very helpful to search. Ignoring the debate if the fluff written by people other than Randall is canon, in some cases fluff was provided in email updates but not the forums, bigger issue is that the bulk of the heroes simply do not have any lore fluff included for them at all beyond a name that tracks back to a TRO notable pilot. [[User:Cyc|Cyc]] ([[User talk:Cyc|talk]]) 13:35, 19 October 2016 (PDT)

::Revisiting this: I just put up an article for the [[Boar's Head]] Hero 'Mech. But trying to find any related lore made want to pull my hair out. I couldn't find any. Can you help? [[User:Frabby|Frabby]] ([[User talk:Frabby|talk]]) 13:16, 18 March 2021 (EDT)

Saw in your most recent edit that you marked [[Florentine]] as entirely apocryphal. Problem is, that's not an accurate description. The fluff for the MWO Hero 'Mechs was ruled as canonical by Randall Bills. Which means their name, type, history and pilot as stated in fluff are fully canonical while their exact (and non-standard) configuration is canon where mentioned in the fluff, but apocryphal otherwise. Gives me headaches, too... [[User:Frabby|Frabby]] ([[User talk:Frabby|talk]]) 01:39, 28 February 2017 (EST)

:Hmm. In my opinion, in order to standardize apocryphal variants, I think adding them to apocryphal variants is the best way to do this - right now the best example of this is the work done on the [[Commando]] page as a reference. The only canon reference is the pilot in the Florentine case and in most TROs, it is either a canon variant (if it lists it) or "prime" variant that is piloted since they are foremost for TableTop use (Randall Bills is contradicting original purpose of TRO). This means that MWO and any other sources are still apocryphal for variants added to a list. The one fix I would suggest is simply the citation link, which appears to be broken. My other opinion is that stuff like mwo or any other game with non-canon variants, while they could fit on a Mech using BT construction, the changes are usually a major stretch meant only to be "good" in the game it is designed from and as cyc brought up, they are difficult to source sometimes with fluff not being consistently provided. It is too confusing otherwise we would need to create a new designation like half-apocryphal or something weird like that.[[User:Thehawk|Thehawk]] ([[User talk:Thehawk|talk]]) 12:04, 27 July 2017 (EDT)

== MWO work ==

I've always had a hard time working with the MWO stuff, in part because I don't play the game which kinda sorta precludes me from partaking in forum activities over at MWO. (I do have an account registered, but I can't post as I can't play the game - my computer simply isn't up to it. :) ). Long story short, you're the man who's doing all the heavy lifting regarding MWO and I'm endlessly thankful for that. Especially regarding the 'Hero Mech mess that I find extremely hard to keep track of. Your MWO page edits are very helpful. An award is clearly called for, and I think this one fits best: [[File:CommServ.jpg|Community Service Award, 1st ribbon]] [[User:Frabby|Frabby]] ([[User talk:Frabby|talk]]) 06:06, 3 November 2017 (EDT)

== Lyran Rank Inline Template ==

Regrettably, coding is syntax sensitive as such:

<nowiki>{{LyranRankInline|Hauptmann Kommandant}} </nowiki>{{LyranRankInline|Hauptmann Kommandant}} works, but<br>

<nowiki>{{LyranRankInline|HauptmannKommandant}} </nowiki>{{LyranRankInline|HauptmannKommandant}} or <br>

<nowiki>{{LyranRankInline|Hauptmann-Kommandant}} </nowiki>{{LyranRankInline|Hauptmann-Kommandant}} will not.

The same with {{LyranRankInline|Leutnant Colonel}} for example.

Also, and annoyingly

<nowiki>{{LyranRankInline|hauptmann kommandant}} </nowiki>{{LyranRankInline|hauptmann kommandant}} will not work.<br>

If someone knows wiki coding better than I do to use some kind of logic/variable sequence in there, please do let me know as it will also effect the <nowiki>{{SLDFRankInline|Master Sergeant}} </nowiki>{{SLDFRankInline|Master Sergeant}} SLDFRankInline Template.

From your edit to the ''[[Main Event]]'' page I see that you seem to possess a copy of the [[1991 Update Flyer]]. == Star League commands order ==

Hi Cyc,

I've seen that the Star League commands order is different from the rest. Units assigned in sub-level commands do appear also in the root (something that does not happen in other Military Commands Categories. Am I right if I consider this Category incorrectly done?

I also think there are categories missing that should help reorganize this a bit better? The level of sub commands can be huge, and I do not even know which is the best way to order them.

I tried to make this a general query, but have no idea on how to do it.--[[User:Pserratv|Pserratv]] ([[User talk:Pserratv|talk]]) 10:31, 18 July 2019 (EDT)

==How the Core Rulebooks Work==

Thanks for correcting me on the MRB image source. The [[How the Core Rulebooks Work]] booklet had its article inaccurately titled "BattleTech Primer" before, a name now used for the universe book included with the [[BattleTech: A Game of Armored Combat]] boxed set. I had therefore moved the article to the more accurate name and also changed the links, assuming they would refer to that booklet.

Which brings me to How the Core Rulebooks Work. I don't have this booklet. The article (originally titled "BattleTech Primer") inaccurately states that it is or was a PDF publication, and I presume it was indeed offered for download by CGL at some point. But I cannot find it for download anymore. On the other hand, unboxing videos and product photos clearly show it was also included as a physical booklet with the 25 Anniversary boxed set.

Now I'm looking for both the PDF and the physical booklet, to cover them in the article (and see if there are any differences). You don't happen to possess one or the other? [[User:Frabby|Frabby]] ([[User talk:Frabby|talk]]) 05:40, 29 September 2020 (EDT)

:I indeed have a PDF copy of "How the Core Rulebooks Work" obtained from DriveThruRPG, which no offense to CGL but I prefer as my official PDF retailer. Interestingly it calls the book "BattleTech: Core Rulebooks Primer" which probably explains why it was known as such on Sarna. Equally interesting is the page on DriveThruRPG for the title is not longer accessible (https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/86111/BattleTech-Core-Rulebooks-Primer) but it remains within my library on the site for me to redownload still though.[[User:Cyc|Cyc]] ([[User talk:Cyc|talk]]) 06:44, 29 September 2020 (EDT)

::That's good to know. I need to track down a physical copy, and then I will be back on you about comparing them for possible differences. The plethora of differences between various editions of the [[universe book]] made me wary about taking it for granted that the content would be the same just because the cover is the same... Hello Cyc, could I ask for a quick clarification of the Moratorium policy please?
