BattleTech was initially conceived as a physical tabletop boardgame, and publications concerning the game - both official and fan-made - were paper-based, typically in the form of print media. The advent of the Internet created a whole new space for publication online, and BattleTech has since grown into a multimedia franchise with a considerable online presence.
Official online media[edit]
Some online resources for BattleTech are provided by the owners or license holders. These are official BattleTech publications, and as such can potentially contribute canonical or apocryphal content. They include:
- battletech.com, the current primary official BattleTech website and home to the BattleTech Forum
- classicbattletech.com (aka CBT.com, defunct since ca. 2017), Warner Doles's website that was adopted in 2001 by WizKids LLC and FanPro LLC as the official BattleTech website, until it was migrated to battletech.com
- BattleCorps website (defunct since 2017), a subscription-based BattleTech fiction site
- camospecs.com (aka CamoSpecs Online, CSO), a site for official BattleTech paint schemes
- heavymetalpro.com, the official website going with the HeavyMetal Pro (HMP) program suite; inactive since 2019
- masterunitlist.info, the Master Unit List
- MechWarrior Online Legends, the official website going with the MechWarrior Online Legends (MWO) online game
- MechWarrior: Dark Age Website (aka LinkNet, defunct since 2010), the official website going with the MechWarrior: Dark Age boardgame
- Catalyst Game Labs YouTube channel
