Kal Griffin was the "Weapons Master" and senior NCO of Carlyle's Commandos[1]

Griffith/Griffin had served with Durant Carlyle, since 2990 when the unit was known as Colby's Commandos.[2]

Kal was responsible for training young Grayson Carlyle in the various workings of the thirty-first-century mercenary life. He had been Grayson's instructor in the martial arts, since he was ten years old. Thanks to Griffith/Griffin, Grayson became an expert in Commando tactics, as he was trained in small unit tactics and techniques since fifteen years old.[3] Kal was one of the people responsible for shaping the tactical genius that created the Gray Death Legion.

He was described as having a hairless scalp, with a drooping moustache, and possessing a savage blue scar that twisted down his jaw close to his right ear.[1]
