Description
Commissioned as a defensive combat vehicle by Clan Wolf-in-Exile, the Heimdall Ground Monitor Tank is not meant to operate far from supply lines. Since it is primarily defensive, it can only manage 54 km/h as its top speed. However, an incredible twenty-two tons of armor protect the hide of this behemoth.[3]
Armament
The Heimdall does not take full advantage of its nature as an OmniVehicle, instead mounting two LB-X Autocannon/10s in the front of the vehicle, along with three tons of ammunition. This fact seems to lend credence to the theory that the Heimdall was redesigned towards the end of its development to accommodate ATMs, in addition to the fact that the only variant is more popular that the standard configuration.[3]
To the twin autocannons, the Heimdall Prime adds a Heavy Large Laser and three Streak SRM-4s, all of which are in the tank's turret. This gives the vehicle a good mix of large-bore weapons to punch holes in an enemy's armor and lighter-caliber weaponry to damage critical systems.[3]
Alternate Configurations
- Alt. Config. A - The aforementioned ATM variant, the Heimdall A mounts a pair of ATM 12s in the turret, along with six tons of ammunition. A Heavy Medium Laser supplements the missiles in the turret.[3] BV (1.0) = 1,539[2], BV (2.0) = 2,244[5]
- Alt. Config. B - This configuration carries three LRM-20 missile launchers in the turret. Like configuration A, this configuration carries six tons of LRM ammunition. BV(2.0)=2,254[6]
- Alt. Config. C - This version mounts a HAG/20 in the turret alongside two Medium Pulse Lasers. An additional hull-mounted Medium Pulse Laser supplements the LB 10-X's firepower. BV(2.0)=2,131[7]
