331st Royal BattleMech Division

History

Created early in the Military build up of the Terran Hegemony. The 331st Battlemech Division was formed from the core of the 7th, 8th, and 13th Northern Brigades. Originally made from battletank forces, it wasn't long that the 331st was turned into a battlemech force, with the influx of the new technology.

2456 - General Bryant Cane Emerson was the 1st commanding officer of the 331st, taking over-all command in 2456, Coming from the 7th Northern Brigade, a Colonel of the 176th Kentucky Browncoats Armored Regiment. He was a student of the West Point Military Academy, and a skilled Tank commander.

2501 - The 1st of the Herbert line of Commanders takes over the 331st on June 9th. A Student of Sandhurst Military Academy. Jean-Paul Herbert was born in Jennings, La in the southern state of North America. Pulled from the student body of Louisiana State University (LSU), Jean-Paul showed signs of a strong strategic mind and leadership in the Collages R.O.T.C. Program, earning a chance to join one of the Terran Hegemony's leading military schools. Jean-Paul moves the Head Quarters of the 331st from St. Paul, Minnesota to Baton Rouge, La.

2526 - General Gene Renald Herbert dies, 3rd in the Herbert lines to Command the 331st Division, Grandson to Jean-Paul dies in a field training exercise. He is replaced by Colonel Gregory Allen McEvedy, of the 1167th Minnesota Regulars "The Mad Caps" He moves the 331st Division's H.Q. to Marshall, MN. and redesigns the 331st Unit Insignia.

2556 - General Robert Ryan McEvedy takes command of the 331st Battlemech Division which is renamed 331st "Royal" Battlemech Division when the Star League treaty is signed. This is a bold move to stay with the 331st, when he was offered Command of the Royal Blackwatch Battlemech Regiment.
