Description
The Hellion is a product of Clan Ice Hellion and their philosophy that espouses speed above all else. Based on the Mist Lynx, the Hellion is a fast OmniMech that has respectable firepower. This light 'Mech is rather difficult to kill, incorporating five and a half tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor. To save weight, the Hellion also uses an Endo Steel chassis. While it is not especially fast for its size, the Hellion does use MASC to allow for bursts of additional speed.[5][6]
Weapons and Equipment
The Hellion sports no fixed weapons on its chassis. The primary configuration consists of four ER Medium Lasers as well as a trio of Streak SRM-2s, which make it a potent headhunter 'Mech. It also packs an LRM-10 to harass enemies at range.
Alternate Configurations
- Alt. Config. A
- A mobile harassment configuration, the Hellion A has a trio of LRM-10 launchers, allowing it to harass an enemy from long range. For close combat, the 'Mech has a single ER Medium Laser. BV (1.0) = 1,290[2], BV (2.0) = 1,543[7]
- Alt. Config. B
- A dangerous heavy laser configuration, the Hellion B has a Heavy Large Laser, four Heavy Medium Lasers, and a Heavy Small Laser. Added to all this laser power are three additional double heat sinks. Even with the extra heat sinks, the Hellion B will not last long firing all of its weapons. BV (1.0) = 1,043[2], BV (2.0) = 1,569[8]
- Alt. Config. C
- A heat efficient headhunter configuration, the Hellion C has an ATM 6 launcher, as well as four ER Medium Lasers that are integrated into a Targeting Computer for increased accuracy. BV (1.0) = 1,547[2], BV (2.0) = 2,095[9]
- Alt. Config. D
- This variant carries an LRM-15, an ER Large Laser, and two Heavy Medium Lasers. BV(2.0)=1,761[10]
- Alt. Config. E
- This configuration carries four Flamers, two AP Gauss Rifles, and for heavier enemies it carries a pair of Heavy Medium Lasers and an SRM-4 launcher. An ECM Suite is mounted in the head. It also has enough jump jets to cover 150 meters in a jump. BV(2.0)=1,292[11]
- Alt. Config. F
- This variant carries an Active Probe in the head. It also carries two AP Gauss Rifles, an ER Large Laser, ER Medium Laser, and ER Flamer. Finally an SRM-6 provides additional firepower. BV(2.0)=1,594[12]
- Alt. Config. G
- This version carries an LRM-10 and three Improved Heavy Medium Lasers. It also packs an Inner Sphere-built TSEMP One Shot cannon in the left torso. BV (2.0) = 1,513[13]
Related OmniMechs
- Mist Lynx - Clan Ice Hellion increased the mass of the Mist Lynx OmniMech. The resulting Hellion OmniMech is just as fast as the Mist Lynx even without the use of MASC, but carries full armor and can mount more than 50% more mass in Pod Space.
Notes
In German products the unit's proper name was altered to Eisteufel, which literally means Ice Devil. This was supposedly done, since the perfect translation Teufelsbraten has a rather diminuitive connotation in German.
