Overview

The 197th Mechanized Infantry Division was a part of the Star League Defense Force Regular Army.

History

In 2764 the 197th was a part of LV Corps within the Fifth Army and was assigned to District 1 of the Capellan Confederation Military Region. The 197th was then transferred to District 3 of the CCMR by 2765 in response to the Periphery Uprising.[1] The 197th survived the Uprising and the Hegemony Campaign but the final fate of the Division is currently unknown.[1]

Officers

The commanding officer in 2764 was Major General Linda Yamazaki.[2]

Tactics

The Mechanised Infantry Divisions of the Star League were used offensively to exploit gaps in the enemy front created by the BattleMech Divisions. They also bore the brunt of defensive actions. All of the Division's 'Mechs are jump capable.[2]

The Division comprised two Brigades of Mechanised Infantry and a single BattleMech Brigade. Also attached was a Ground Aero Wing.
