==History==
The first air unit created in the [[Outworlds Alliance]], it has become the most respected unit in the Alliance.  Its pilots are some of the best pilots in or out of the Inner Sphere. No one joins the First Air Wing straight out of training. Pilots are selected from the other four air wings based on skill and merit.  While this has caused some friction with the other units, it isn't enough to effect joint operations.

==Tactics==
Adept at space assaults the 1st has made it their personal mission to prevent opposing DropShips from making planetfall.  The Avellar Guards are best digging in and holding static positions, but they do field enough equipment to allow for flanking and counterattacks should the situation present itself.
