Unit Brief

The First Cossack Lancers was an elite militia unit under the direct command of the planetary governor of Mirach.[1]

History

Under Republic rule, Mirach was guarded by two separate militias: the First Cossack Lancers under the command of the planetary governor, and the Mirach Home Guard under the planetary legate.[2] The First Cossack Lancers were formed as a reward for Governor Sergio Ortega's service under Devlin Stone.[3]

On the 22nd of November 3132 raiders attacked Mirach.[4] The raiders struck at a number of industrial sites located on the Ventrale continent, but were easily defeated by the First Cossack Lancers, particularly after a series of unfortunate accidents befell the raiders. Although the identity of the raiders was never proven, the general sentiment among the population was that they had been hired or employed by Jacob Bannson.[1] In May 3133 a coup was launched against the government on Mirach; although the coup was unsuccessful[5][4] and lasted less than ten days,[4] it was symptomatic of the chaos expanding throughout the region in the wake of Gray Monday.[5]

The First Cossack Lancers lacked any BattleMechs due to Governor Ortega's pacifistic policies. They had battle armor and combat vehicles at their disposal.[3] After the 3133 coup attempt, several armed IndustrialMechs, once under Mirach Business Association control, were handed to the reconstituted Lancers.[6]
