Clan Goliath Scorpion
The elite Thirty-Fifth Scorpion Cuirassiers is a component Cluster of Clan Goliath Scorpion's Alpha Galaxy (Escorpión Imperio) (the "Rock Minders"), under the personal command of Galaxy Commander Rik Myers.
Following the Great Refusal, the Thirty-Fifth spearheaded Myers' successful Trial of Possession in August 3060 for a 200-kilometer enclave on the continent Abysmal on Huntress against a mixed SLDF force of ComStar and Eridani Light Horse units, capturing the Abysmal Manufacturing Complex at Rakt-Jabada, warehouses filled with Inner Sphere Isorla, and a spaceport previously owned by the former Smoke Jaguars.[1] This action took two hours and in the aftermath the Cuirassiers remained on Huntress to garrison their new conquest. [2]
After some 3,000 former Smoke Jaguars escaped from Huntress under the leadership of former Star Colonel Paul Moon in August 3060, Myers led the Thirty-fifth in pursuit down the Exodus Road to Wayside V, the isolated location of a former Smoke Jaguar resupply depot.[3] There, the Thirty-fifth was defeated by a rough, adhoc cluster comprised of the trinary of former Jaguar troops which had accompanied Moon to the new colony and the 47th Garrison Cluster of the Smoke Jaguars Zeta Galaxy, a binary of older warriors and their poorly maintained BattleMechs which had been abandoned and forgotten by their Clan seven years earlier. As Myers had not counted on losing the Trial and had planned to replenish his food provisions after harvesting the colony, the Thirty-fifth did not have enough food to make the year-long trip home. Moon therefore forced him and the surviving personnel of the Thirty-fifth, including the jumpship crews, to work as laborers growing foodstuffs and tending livestock so that they could return home to Clan space. Those who wanted to stay could, but those who returned would have to purge their ships' maps of the location of Wayside V and never reveal its location. The Thirty-fifth's survivors did their duty as prisoners of war and finally returned to Huntress in March 3064. But a few, feeling that their honor was hopelessly lost during "Myers' Folly," deserted the galaxy commander and joined Moon's colonists on Wayside V, becoming part of his new Fidelis. Despite Myers' disgrace, Khan Ariel Suvorov left him in command of the Thirty-fifth to give him the chance to redeem himself but required him to retest for his position as Alpha Galaxy commander.[4]
The Thirty-fifth was still garrisoning Huntress in 3067.[5]
In mid December 3075 during the Wars of Reaving, Alpha Galaxy--including the Thirty-fifth Cuirassiers--dropped onto New Kent as part of the multi-Clan force tasked with the annihilation of Clan Steel Viper. Alpha secured its main objective of the Shandrake Massif research facility by the end of day two. Fighting continued for a least a further week before orbital bombardment reduced the last Viper strong point to dust. [6]
Having survived the Wars of Reaving, the Goliath Scorpion's Abjuration in 3079, and the invasion and conquest of Nueva Castille and the Umayyad Caliphate in 3080, the Thirty-fifth remained part of Alpha Galaxy and became a Cluster of the Imperio Militar Del Escorpión under the overall command of Khan Colin Yeh. By 3086, Myers had been succeeded in command of the Thirty-fifth by Star Colonel Ires Coddington.[7]
