History
3147 found the Seventh Tamarind Regulars facing the Marian Hegemony's III Legio on Tormentine. The Hegemony unit inflicted heavy damage on the Third Battalion.[1] In October elements of II Legio and III Legio landed on Gibraltar. The First Battalion expected a raid in force but promptly redeployed and called for reinforcements when the legiones' mission of conquest became clear. However when the reinforcements arrived, they found the Seventh had withdrawn into the Duchy of Tamarind-Abbey.[2]
Later that same year, the rebuilt Third Battalion of the Seventh raided the Marian Hegemony positions on Gibraltar, but this ended in disaster. The goal was to destroy the Hegemony's supply depots and force the Hegemony to stop its invasion. Unfortunately the Third Battalion overextended itself and the legiones were able to defeat them in detail. Two companies of the Third Battalion were lost, and the depots were untouched.[3]
The Seventh had their revenge a few years later when they landed on Huntington with elements of the 8th Tamarind Regulars. They destroyed most of III Legio's DropShips and hunted down every Marian soldier who had been present on Tormentine.[4] They then joined the 1st Tamarind Regulars, Eighth Tamarind Regulars, and Camacho's Caballeros in an assault on the Marian Hegemony held world of Illyria. They faced I Legio and destroyed its Tertia Cohors. They also drove II Legio out of their positions and forced them on the run. The remaining legiones were forced to use guerrilla attacks. This attack was vital to the survival of the Duchy of Tamarind-Abbey, as the attacking Hegemony legiones returned to reinforce Illyria. Despite these additional troops, the Seventh and other Duchy units had taken firm control of the world.[5]
