Description
The Alacorn was developed by the New Earth Trading Company and initially delivered to SLDF units in 2587. The SLDF successfuly deployed Alacorns throughout the Periphery. Alacorns served so effectively that General Aleksandr Kerensky was reported to have taken hundreds of them during the Exodus. Production continued to the start of the Second Succession War until shortages of XL Engines and Gauss Rifles halted further production. New Earth was eventually able to restart production and initial deliveries were made to Federated Commonwealth units in 3055.
Armament
The three Norse-Storm gauss rifles are mounted in a rotating turret allowing a 360 degree field of fire. A full five tons of ammunition is carried internally. This devastating firepower has made the Alacorn an attractive weapon for mercenary units or small planetary forces that are unable to field BattleMechs yet desire assault-class firepower.
