== Description ==
The '''autocannon/5''' was a direct-fire ballistic weapon, firing HEAP (''H''igh-''E''xplosive ''A''rmor-''P''iercing) rounds at targets either singly or in bursts.

Different manufacturers and models of autocannons had different calibers (25 mm-203 mm) and rates of fire. Due to this, autocannons were grouped into generic "classes" of similar damage ratings, with autocannon/5s usually having a long range and a small to moderate damage level.

An autocannon/5 could use [[:Category:Special_Munitions|special munitions]] to increase its effectiveness.

Designed for the [[Terran Alliance]], the prototype version of this cannon was among the first autocannons ever made.
