Description
The Banzai is a Experimental BattleMech that was produced by the Draconis Combine's Luthien Armor Works of New Samarkand. This experimental design, utilizes a mix of Inner Sphere and Clan technology. Its chassis is based on the Daboku/Mauler Assault BattleMech. It was first developed in 3076 as large and quick 'Mech, which was designed to be a Close-in brawler.
Only four of the design were produced during the Jihad, with one was lost while it was assigned to the 8th Dieron Regulars. The 'Mech was used in the assault against Word of Blake forces on the occupied Prefecture capital of Dieron. The pilot successfully engaged the Blakist, found it needed to withdraw. It was destroyed during its retreat, when its engine was breached by enemy fire. After pilot was automaticly ejected from the 'Mech, the Banzai's self-destruct booby trap destroyed the surrounding Blakist (and Kurita allies) in its wake. The pilot was killed after its Full-Head Ejection System landed roughly.[2]
Armament & Capacities
The Banzai uses a mix of Clan and Experimental Inner Sphere technology. The 'Mech range weaponry includes two Clan Large Pulse Lasers in right arm, two torso mounted Clan Medium Pulse Lasers, and a head mounted Clan ER Small Laser.
The 'Mech is equipped with a Large Vibroblade for close melee combat. Its hull is protected by 17.5 tons of standard armor.
Powering the 'Mech is its 360 Rated Extra Light Fusion Engine, with its top speed augmented by MASC. This allows the design to run up to 100 km/ph in brief bursts.
For the pilot's protection, the 'Mech is equipped with Full-Head Ejection System.
As its weapon of last resorts, the 'Mech has been designed to carry a powerful Booby Trap, which uses engine's power cause explosion to destroy surrounding enemies. This seen a spoil-sport device to prevent the 'mech from being salvaged.[3]
