Fate then intervened. The unit had not been long assigned to Northwind when House Kurita attacked the planet as part of the initial shots on the Fourth Succession War. Ironically, the most powerful Kuritan unit on the planet, the Genyosha was in Northwind for them: as their leader, Yorinaga Kurita was fighting a personal war against Morgan Kell and the Hounds, he had moved their unit to Northwind because they were informed the unit was there... but there were only the Bravos.

The Fifth Sword of Light and the 36th Dieron Regulars launched an invasion on the planet. Both units struck the planet in early January of 3029. The Thirty-sixth lured the under-manned Fifth Deneb Light Cavalry out of their defensive positions so the Fifth Sword could slaughter the unit. Bradley's Bravos (Kell Hounds's Third Battalion) and the newly arrived Team Banzai engaged in battle with the Thirty-sixth and the Fifth Sword in their bid to allow the survivors of Fifth Deneb to escape. The mercenaries succeeded in tying up both DCMS regiments until the elite Genyosha regiment arrived. The Genyosha pushed the mercenaries out position and kept them from overrunning the Fifth Sword's headquarters. Scott Bradley was preparing a suicide run with the remnants of the unit in order to allow both the Fifth Deneb Light Cavalry and the Team Banzai survivors to escape the planet. That final action was not needed because of the arrival of the mercenary regiments arrived in form of the Northwind Highlanders who recently having signed for House Davion took the kuritan troops by surprise and forced them to withdraw not without eliminating a battalion of the 36th Dieron Regulars.
