Description
The C-790 Protector debuted in the late 2990s. It was designed to support battlefield medical units, evacuating injured troops out of combat zones to safer rear area hospitals. It accomplished this mission with a combination of speed and accessibility. It can cruise at speed of 900 km/h with a maximum velocity of Mach 3, while its STOL ability allows it to reach forward aid stations and thus reduce the travel time for casualties.[1][2]
Equipment and Capabilities
The aircraft is equipped with paramedic equipment, with ten separate onboard stations to provide emergency care and space for sixty passengers and ten paramedics.[1][2]
Variants
- Cargo
- A number of aircraft have been converted to simple cargo transports by the Lyran Alliance.[1][2]
- Chariot
- A knockoff released by Ceres Metals in 3031, it replaces the paramedic stations with a single MASH module. To accommodate this it reduces the armor by a ton.[1][2][3]
Notes
- The Free Worlds League and Draconis Combine have homegrown designs that match the Protector's specifications.[1][2]
