History

Mercenary days

Drake's Dragons were a mercenary unit working for the Free Worlds League in 3000 with a garrison contract on Goth Khakar. That same year they were assigned as their liaison officer Captain William Langston from the FWLM, who discovered the unit was involved in criminal activities.

They tried to murder him and ransacked the capital killing hundreds of civilians and militia before escaping.[1]

Pirate days

After escaping, they were chased by Morrison's Madmen, a mercenary unit whose contract was to hunt them. That unit, which included William Langston was able to find them and kill several of their core members, though the rest of the band fled.[1]

After several years rebuilding and raiding other realms, they Dragons returned to attacking Free Worlds League worlds on the Periphery after discovering that the Madmen's CO, had been severely injured in a combat drop in 3007.[2]

In 3011, they send one of their gangs, the Cobra ones under command from Aeneas "Ripper" Papaspaneas to raid Payvand.[2] Aeneas Gang ransacked a town and robbed several transports full of gold in the process killing more than one hundred civilians[3] after crushing the Payvand's Militia and engaging Langston's Lancers, who were nearby.[2]

The pirates had loaded the gold from the trucks into their Maxim Heavy Hover Transports and fled to their hidden DropShip. Langston's Lancers scouts were able to trace they movements and the unit ambushed them at Colman Pass, where they crushed the pirates and only one BattleMech and one hovercraft were able to temporarily escape, as after a ten hour hunt they were found out. The Cobra's DropShip was destroyed by Langston's Lancers aerospace command, the Black Sheep.[4]

From this point on, the Lancers and Dragons were locked in a vendetta that would only end one way.[4]
