HD-276914
System Information
X:Y Coordinates[e]

HD-276914 is a system near Nowhere, in the coreward Periphery just beyond the edge of the Draconis Combine.[1]

System Description

HD-276914 is a system with at least one inhabitable planet. It is presented as an earth-like planet with trees, grass, and snow-capped mountains, notable for its regular lightning strikes despite no obvious storms. The system HD-417328 is nearby, further out into the Periphery.[1]

System History

In 2986 or early the following year, Nikolai Mason stopped in HD-276914 just before his infiltration of Kurita space.[2]

In the first part of the thirty-first century, before the founding of the Free Rasalhague Republic in 3034,[3] ComStar built a stellar research facility in the system. They used a vast array of radio telescopes to help fill in a missing section of a Star League-era star map and to aid the Explorer Corps in searching for more lost Star League facilities. More significantly, they had been tracking the movement of people and ships through that region of space, especially those headed into the Inner Sphere from somewhere out in the uncharted Periphery.[1]

Nik's Cavaliers and Interstellar Expeditions captured the research facility while pursuing related interests. Though much of the data was destroyed beforehand, enough was recovered to shed light on ComStar's intentions in the region.[1]

Canonicity

Featured only in the MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries video game, the HD-276914 system is considered apocryphal.
