Description
The Jade Hawk is a 'Mech that was created by Clan Jade Falcon. It remained a Jade Falcon exclusive until blueprints were stolen, reportedly by a disgruntled Jade Falcon in protest of Malvina Hazen's "total war" philosophy that caused a civil war within Clan Jade Falcon itself. Clan Sea Fox came into possession of the blueprints, fencing them to Dynamic Ordnance and Ammunition, an Inner Sphere manufacturer that managed to put the 'Mech design into production. Since that day, some Jade Hawks they produced have been sighted, notably with mercenaries at the helm.
The 'Mech's design is indicative of the Jade Falcons' attempt to create several new totem BattleMechs to revitalize their Clan. In their new 'Mech design line, the Jade Hawk was to be the heavy class. Like the light Eyrie, medium Gyrfalcon, and assault Shrike; the Jade Hawk displays birdlike talons on its arms and legs, wings that serve both an aesthetic purpose and aid in heat dissipation, and advanced armor and systems. Armament
Lightly armed for a heavy BattleMech, the Jade Hawk is equipped only with four ER Small Lasers and a set of four SRM-6s, as well as the claws on its extremities, themselves impressive close combat weapons for Death from Above attacks and grappling with other 'Mechs in close combat conditions. Despite its light armament, the Jade Hawk is very heavily armored, the chassis carrying the maximum amount of armor it can support. This combination of melee and short ranged weaponry, heavy armor, and speed (rivaling 'Mechs a third of the its tonnage) make the Jade Hawk a powerful close-in fighter and a force to be reckoned with in urban environments.
Variants
There are two known variants of the Jade Hawk. Though no design specifications are forthcoming at this time, it is rumoured that at least one variant replaces the standard SRM-6s with Advanced Tactical Missile Systems and an LB-X Autocannon/5.
