History[edit]
He was born in Hamilton a year before the Jihad erupted, and lived many of his formative years under the dual rule of the Free Worlds League and the Word of Blake and though he saw many horrors as was exposed to a lot of propaganda he survived until the end of the war with few lasting psychological scars.
Only twelve years old when the Republic of the Sphere was born, he became a resident of the newborn realm by default.
He did develop an interest in spaceflight, and learned the basics of aerospace and shuttle flight operations from a civilian training program by the time he was twenty. He entered as a crewmen of the E.F. Marie and rose through the ranks and became its commander in 3093 when the previous commander retired. He was still commanding it in 3095 when the ship vanished along with the Celeste, the JumpShip carrying it, after a misjump. Its fate is unknown after that.[1]
Notes[edit]
- John Bean is among the canonical items featured in the 2014 Halloween special product Empires Aflame. The focus of that product was an (expressly noncanonical) alternate universe; the misjump of the Celeste served as the entry point for the players into that other universe. Canonically, the Celeste vanished and its fate remains unknown.[2]
