During the FedCom Civil War, a Loyalist was an individual who was loyal to the noble ruler of both the Lyran Alliance and Federated Commonwealth, Archon Katherine Steiner-Davion, hence the term.
A military unit that openly supported and fought for Archon "Katrina" was called a "Loyalist unit".
During the War, Loyalists were opposed by Allied units who openly supported Archon Katherine's brother and archenemy, First Prince Victor Steiner-Davion.
Loyalists were noted for their ruthlessness and immorality. Katherine decreed that any and all "neutral" military organizations that existed inside the Alliance or Commonwealth (i.e., AFFC or LAAF units who chose not to support either Katherine or Victor), were to be destroyed since she considered such units to be a threat. These units would often give up their neutrality and choose to join Prince Victor and his Allies after the Loyalists displayed such dishonorable behavior.
