Dig, Defend, or Die, the 2018 Worldwide Event created under the auspices of the Catalyst Game Labs Agents and directed by Alex Kaempen, came with four new, custom-designed mapsheets. Three of them were modified versions of older mapsheets (the "BattleTech", "Large Lakes 2" and "Scattered Woods" maps, respectively), while the fourth, "Dig Site", was entirely new. The maps are collectively credited to Brent Evans and Florian Mellies.
Following the conclusion of the worldwide scenario event, Catalyst Game Labs bundled the four new mapsheets into the BattleTech Map Pack: WWE2018 Terrain Set and offered it as a free PDF download through their webstore, both as a stand-alone product and as part of a WWE 2018 bundle. Being officially released through CGL made them the first new maps officially released for BattleTech since Map Set 7 in 2002 and the Solaris Games-centric 2004 MapPack: Solaris VII (discounting the German-only 2017 BattleTech Starterbox).
Publisher's Description[edit]
From the CGL webshop:
“ | PRINT YOUR BATTLEFIELD
BattleTech MapPacks bring back BattleTech's classic map sheets in printable form. Using the original map sheet art, and sized for compatibility with the original printed sheets and newer Hex Packs alike, you can now store and print as many sheets as needed for your BattleTech games. Use these sheets in conjunction with the random terrain tables found in Total Warfare, or any time you need a quick map, but transporting physical terrain is impractical. Mount them on poster board or cardboard for longevity, or cut them up to mix and match your own unique battlefields. For use with BattleTech, Total Warfare, Tactical Operations, and Strategic Operations. The WWE2018 Terrain Set includes all the maps needed to run the 2018 World Wide Event, Dig, Defend, or Die. |

Contents[edit]
The 50-page PDF document has a single introductory page, "Print your battlefield!", that explains three different options how to print and use the mapsheets contained therein. The remaining pages contain the four maps in three different resolutions and formats, to accommodate the various printing options. The preferred print option generates a printout where the hex maps line up with previously published BattleTech maps.
