The Newgrange has so far only appeared in the (Video Game) by Harebrained Schemes LLC. This source does not meet the current criteria for Canon, and is thus treated as apocryphal at this time.

The Newgrange had originally appeared in the BattleTech video game by Harebrained Schemes LLC, which is merely an apocryphal source. Since then, the DropShip has appeared in the Shrapnel Issue #15 short story Second to None, rendering it now canonical.

Incumbent Line Developer Randall N. Bills explicitly stated that it was the intention for this particular game's storyline to be fully canonical. That means that if and when the finished game is released, any information it contains about the Newgrange will likely be declared canonical.

The information after this notice comes from apocryphal sources; the canonicity of such information is uncertain.
Please view the reference page for information regarding their canonicity.

Anvelt[edit]

The Newgrange officially operated as a civilian merchant transport craft. The craft was destroyed in 3025 on the moon Anvelt after being suspected by the local rulers of actually being a disguised Taurian Concordat military ship smuggling weapons.[1]

The ship was captained by the son of Commodore Samuel Ostergaard.[1]

Destruction[edit]

When Kamea ordered the Captain of the Newgrange to surrender, he refused and cut comms with her. This would prompt Kamea to order her mercenaries to fire on the fuel cells near the dropship and destroy it completely.[citation needed]

Aftermath[edit]

After the Newgrange was destroyed, a Directorate lance led by Victoria Espinosa attacked the mercenaries. They failed and all their 'Mechs were destroyed, leading to Victoria's capture at the hands of the Arano Restoration's forces. The destruction of the Newgrange prompted the entrance of the Taurian Concordat into the Restoration War, starting with the Iberia's assault on Artru.[citation needed]

Canonicity[edit]

The Newgrange had originally appeared in the BattleTech video game by Harebrained Schemes LLC, which is merely an apocryphal source. Since then, the DropShip has appeared in the Shrapnel Issue #15 short story Second to None, rendering it now canonical.
