Dark Age[edit]
The Northwind Fusiliers were formed in the wake of the Blackout, after Tara Campbell became Prefect of Prefecture III and called for volunteers. It drew from memorial groups formed after most Highlanders regiments were disbanded post-Jihad. These descendants of former Northwind Highlanders units, primarily the Second Kearny Highlanders and Northwind Hussars, had kept up their forebears' martial traditions, albeit without formal training. Led by officers from the surviving First Kearny Highlanders, the Fusiliers quickly became a skilled, capable regiment. Initially intended as a home guard for Northwind, the Fusiliers quickly found themselves deployed on various Republic worlds.[2][1]
