System Description

The Offerman system is located near the Chenier and Shawnee systems.

System History

During the Star League era, the planet Offerman was a lightly populated industrial world. Most of the inhabitants, that were not involved in agriculture, were employed by the local mining company. The mining facilities mostly produced uranium and thorium. The second largest employer on world was Offerman Atomics Limited, a major manufacturer of fission power plants for civilian use in the Davion Outback.[1]

The 299th Mechanized Infantry Division was stationed on world to guard against any unauthorized groups obtaining any of the material or equipment that could re-purpose the radioactive materials mined or created for power plants into weapons of mass destruction. The 299th was nicked named "Oppenheimer's Honor" after the planets capital city of Oppenheimer.[2]
