Planetary History

Star League Era

The Third Lyran Guards were in place on the Black Rock continent on Orkney in 2765, a desolate punishment posting assigned to them by the Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces High Command as a consequence of the regiment deciding to "bolster relations" with a Canopian pleasure circus. Also present were a special medical team and the LIC, working through the repercussions of the Third's Canopian encounter.[36]

Clan Invasion Era

During the Fifth Wave of Operation REVIVAL Orkney, apparently abandoned by the Federated Commonwealth, became the subject of a Trial of Possession between Clan Jade Falcon and Clan Steel Viper in November or December 3051. The battle between the First Falcon Striker and Viper's 104th Assault Cluster ended in a draw, leaving the world split between the two Clans. The Falcons briefly maintained a training base on the southern continent but after the Battle of Tukayyid chose to abandon Orkney entirely, leaving it solely under Steel Viper control.[18] [19] [37]

After the Hegira War and the total eviction of Clan Steel Viper from the Inner Sphere, Orkney came under Jade Falcon rule.[23]

The Jihad

Clan Wolf used the attacks on the Lyran Alliance launched by Clan Jade Falcon during the Jihad to launch their own series of planetary conquests, typically shadowing the Jade Falcon advance. A wave of attacks saw the Wolves capture Orkney, along with Domain, Jabuka, La Grave and Rasalgethi, through the first week of October 3069.[38]

Dark Age

Abandoned by Clan Wolf in 3137, Orkney was later annexed by Clan Jade Falcon. Malvina Hazen's rule was harsh, abusing the ex-Wolf civilians as surrogates for the Falcons' long-time rivals.[35]

ilClan Era

Clan Hell's Horses took control of Orkney in November 3151 after the near-destruction of the Falcon warrior caste during the Battle of Terra left the Falcon Occupation Zone almost defenseless. Aside from token resistance by Falcon solahma and police, the world's population welcomed the Horses as liberators.[35]
