Marik-Steiner was reputed to be a teller of tall tales, including that he was the child of a tryst between Janos Marik and Katrina Steiner, that he had fought an hour-long battle with a Stinger which helped save the world of Hassad and that he had survived a bout of Miaplacidus Plague.
His unit would have been happy to be rid of his stories, but he was a good scout, and they needed every good pilot they could find.[1][2]
