Description
The Quaestor Mobile Tactical Command HQ was a Third-Second Century Combat Vehicle, which was originally as a inexpensive command vehicle that could be exported to allies and second line troops. The Quaestor was designed by Duncan Enterprises, whom managed to convince the Republic of the Sphere leadership to allow the company to create a vehicle. The business plan was save costs of production and design by using existing components being used to build the more advanced Praetorian and Tribune Mobile HQ vehicles.
This hybrid of the two advance vehicles, proved to be a boon for RAF Standing Guard units due to it's ruggedness and the ease of maintaining it. While not a perfect command vehicle, it was proven to be good sell and was sold across the Inner Sphere. However, one blight on it's history would be that one of these vehicles were used by CapCon's Death Commandos in a ambush that killed Kai Allard-Liao during Capellan Crusades.
Due it's association with the ambush, it became clear that the vehicle had truly became used through out the Inner Sphere, and decision was made to sell more advanced Praetorian and Tribune to allies friendly to the Republic.[3]
Weapons and Equipment
Duncan Enterprises used the chassis of the Praetorian as basis of the vehicle. Engineers would end up stripping out the heavier vehicle's more advanced gear and armor out to lower costs. This left the Quaestor sharing the same dimensions and it appear to resemble the larger vehicle, but thirty tons lighter and far roomier. Powered by a 180-rated Fusion Engine, the vehicle is able move up to 90+ km/p, same as the Tribune. For it's role as command vehicle, the vehicle retains the Tribune's 5-tons of Communication Equipment, giving the command staff ability to jam enemy transmissions, give advance intel to allow unit's tied into the vehicle gain the initiative on enemy troops via Satellites connections, remote relays and more. Additionally, a Guardian ECM Suite is also fitted giving it additional boost in electronic warfare fighting capacities. Vehicle crews must use it swift speed help improve it's odds in battle, this partially due to the vehicle being armored with six tons standard armor, which gives it modest protection should it be ambushed.
The vehicle is only equipped with self-defense weaponry, this comes in the form a Extended-Range Small Laser mounted in the main turret, with a pair of machine guns, each one mounted in one of the vehicle's two Sponson Turrets.ref>Experimental Technical Readout: Republic, Volume 1, pp. 8, 22 Quaestor - Unit Stats and capacities.</ref>

Notes
- The Quaestor is published only Experimental Technical Readout: Republic, Volume 1, with a Record sheet. The image of the Praetorian was used as official image of the vehicle.
- The vehicle was first created by Wizkids' MechWarrior Dark Age Collectable Miniatures game as a part of its original release of the game, the set was later called simply the Dark Age release. The vehicle was amongst the few which were given then Classic BattleTech stats for use in the game, appearing in the Record Sheets: MechWarrior Dark Age I as the Mobile Tactical Command HQ minus the Sponsor Turrets.
- It was much later adapted by Catalyst Game Labs and redefined once the company advanced the franchise's timeline to 3095. There was very limited information regarding this vehicle until the XTRO: Republic II was published, including it's formal name.
- Note: The only advanced gear was the Sponsor Turrets, however this would be regulated as Tournament Legal as of
