Description
Originally designed as a Battlecruiser, cost-saving attempts not only reduced the size but resulted in the ship receiving engines too small for it. Political machinations among the various SLDF Departments also led to the purchase of 250 of these dubious vessels. In an attempt to make the best of a bad situation, the SLDF Admiralty modified the design into a missile frigate and thus created a slow but heavily armed vessel.
Replaced by the Congress-class Frigate. Placed in mothballs but some later converted into the Volga-class Transport.
Several were later reactivated by the Word of Blake and participated in the Jihad
Armament
The ship’s main armament was eighteen Killer Whale missiles, the largest missile type of its kind. Supplementing these were twenty-four White Shark and Barracuda missile launchers. In addition, an assortment of heavy naval weapons made the ship dangerous at all ranges.
