These individual warriors and small teams have been sponsored by governments, corporations, and other interests, but their small-time nature and modest skills on a world teeming with champion fighters has left them outside of the normal dueling circuit. These sponsors have granted these teams access to a wide range of sophisticated hardware, with some of the latest battlefield technologies with which to customize their gear—all for the chance to demonstrate their skills and tech before millions of bloodthirsty viewers!<ref name=XTRORFp40/>

The final winner of the Solaris VII Royal Fantasy Tournament is the team with the last surviving warrior at the end of the third round match in Steiner Coliseum. * In order to balance matches, some teams might be forced not to field all their strength in a given match.
* If a Team pilot is killed in a Match and the Team emerged victorious, the Winning Team has the option to use a backup MechWarrior from the Team to cover the [[MechWarrior (pilot)|MechWarrior]] place (with an equivalent skill or worse). If no substitute MechWarrior can be found inside the Team, a MechWarrior from a previously eliminated Team of the same/allied faction affiliation (and with equivalent skill or worse) may act as a substitute warrior to fight in the slain warrior's stead. * If a Team 'Mech is fully destroyed but the MechWarrior survives, a Team can try to find a substitute mount. First it has to check if they can field a suitable substitute unit within the Team. If that fails, they will ask for a suitable substitute unit from the rosters of an allied affiliated team that has already been eliminated. If none is found, they can bring to fight a random 'Mech from its Random Assignment Table for its faction of affiliation and using as weight class either medium or light. Note that destroyed units that were being operated as drones in the tournament may not be substituted with drones: their drone operators must instead operate the replacement units directly.<ref name=XTRORFp40c/>
