Planetary History
Little Kingdom of Somerset
During the the First Succession War, Archon Richard Steiner had setup number of Small Kingdoms inside the Commonwealth. One of them was Little Kingdom of Somerset, which was one last ten remaining kingdoms to remain by end of the Third Succession War. During this time, Archonette of the Somerset Little Kingdom, Gregory Uther attempted to assassinate returing Duke of Somerset. However, this plot was uncovered and Uther was himself killed by LIC agents on-orders from Archon.[1]
Clan Jade Falcon Invasion
In May of 3050, Somerset was target of Clan Jade Falcon second wave of conquests in their Operation Revival. The space port was initially defended by the Somerset Academy Training Battalion which was utterly annilihated by Vau Galaxy's 94th Strike Cluster. Surviving FedCom troops that had retreated to the planet counter-attacked, which included the 8th Arcturan Guard RCT & the 2nd New Ivaarsen Chasseurs. The FedCom troops and the Falcons fought outside of the town of Hollyfield where they fought a 12 hour battle. In end, both FedCom formations were wiped out, leaving the 94th victors of Somerset.[2]
Ice Hellion Invasion
During the Ice Hellion invasion of 3071-3072, Somerset was invaded by Clan Ice Hellion's Beta & Zeta Galaxies. Month after taking the planet, Clan Jade Falcon dispatches its Gamma Galaxy. During the fighting in July, a heavy naval battle between Clan WarShips accures. In resulting battle, both Clans loss a ship; Falcon's CJF Lightning Strikes & Hellion's CIH Taney. The Gamma Galaxy's efforts resulted in the reclaiming of Somerset for the Falcons.[3]
Notable Planetary Sites
- Military Academy of Somerset - A small war college dedicate to train House Lyran MechWarriors & AeroSpace Fighter Pilots. In 3025, the Academy was commanded by Leutnant-General Reginald Heathers.[4] The academy by time House Steiner joined the Federated Commonwealth, had a armed training battalion, the Somerset Academy Training Battalion.
- Somerset Space Port - Located outside the town of Hollyfield, is the planet's main space port for the planet. The port was site of Clan Jade Falcon's trial of possession against FedCom troops that had retreated to the planet.[5]
