Legate Stanford Eckard was the Planetary Legate of Skye, for the Republic of the Sphere, from at least 3130 to 3134.[1][2][3][4]
Personal Appearance
Eckard was a tall man, of an Asian background, who had brown eyes and (as of 3134) graying salt and pepper hair.[5] Despite his thin build and age, he still had a bodybuilder's physique, with the physical strength to match.[6]
History
On 2 May 3134, within the grounds of Sanglamore Military Academy], Legate Eckard along with other Skye leaders met with Tara Campbell as she warned about an impeding threat to the world from Clan Jade Falcon.[5] While Eckard defended Campbell against some criticism by other Skye leaders, she considered him to be so introverted, that she was unsure as to his true feelings regarding her mission.[7]
By 25 June, Eckard was at another meeting with Campbell and senior Skye leaders, which heard the Jade Falcon threat had materialized with their conquest of the nearby Lyran Commonwealth world of Chaffee.[8] On 2 July he again joined Campbell to interview a Clan Sea Fox merchant, Senna, who provided intelligence on the leaders of the Jade Falcon Desant.[9]
In August 3134, he supported Campbell in resisting suggestions that Duke Gregory Kelswa-Steiner should suppress Skye's Chamber of Deputies, which had been debating offering surrender terms to Galaxy Commander Aleksandr Hazen.[10]
Later in August, in the ensuing campaign fighting the Falcons, Legate Eckard however opposed Tara Campbell's intention to accept a formal Batchall from Galaxy Commander Beckett Malthus. He however eventually accepted that it was the preferrable strategic option[11], and managed to survive the fighting with the Falcons, still being in place after their initial attack had been beaten off.[4]
In October prior to the Falcon's returning, Eckard only reluctantly supported the military assistance provided by Duke's Gregory Kelswa-Steiner son Jasek Kelswa-Steiner, fearing his Stormhammers would stoke pro-Lyran sentiment on Skye.[12]
