Description
Considered as a mistake, the original design of the Stone Rhino was know as "Amaris' folly". Developped in a project whose objective was to develop a 'Mech able to withstand an entire BattleMech company assault, these machines were launched in mass production and used to stop General Kerensky in his attempt to retake Terra. The prototype is described as a monstruosity whose leg actuators shut down during its first test run, so the project was summarily scrapped. However the Stone Rhino was one of the most remarkable surprise for Inner Sphere forces the Clans sprung. Bringing awesome firepower , those machines can't be used effectively by commanders because they can't afford to lose only one. Mainly seen in Clan Smoke Jaguar, only a small number of those beasts has been describe. No other Clan appeared to field this design, but because it is a venerable design, other Clans are suspected to possess some, widely spread throughout.
Armament
Featuring twin Gauss Rifle and Large Pulse Laser in each arms, and an almost superfluous Small Pulse Laser, the Stone Rhino sports also an iteresting feature : each arms contain a retractable shock-absorbing cowls covering weapon barrels, which allow MechWarriors to use arms as battering rams without damaging weaponry.
