Tantara
Planetary Description
Tantara was an important logistical and command hub for the SLDF and later the St. Ives Compact. It has at least two moons, one of which was known as Kalinda.[30][31]
Planetary History
Star League
Prior to the Fall of the Star League, Tantara was the headquarters world of the Star League Defense Forces LVII Corps (Star League) and Twelfth Jump Infantry Division. The local population was against having the SLDF forces on world and protests numbering in the thousands of civilians were common.[32]
Tantara's second moon, Kalinda, served as the homeport of the Sixth Fleet of the Star League Navy. While there were naval offices on Tantara itself, they were minor. It was not uncommon to have one or more squadrons of WarShips in-system.[33]
Third Succession War
In 2990, a subterranean Star League era supply depot was discovered on Tantara's antarctic shelf. The BattleMechs, largely Goliaths, found in storage there were used to reform the Fifth Capellan Chargers.[34]
Capellan-St. Ives War
Tantara was an important world that suffered heavy fighting during the Capellan-St. Ives War. However, available information on the timeline of the fighting is confused or contradictory. Using the best guess with the info available, House Dai Da Chi, reinforced by the Renshield's Dragoons, would take the vital logistic world of Tantara from the St. Ives Compact defenders, 2nd St. Ives Lancers, Raymond's Armored Infantry and Group W, in 3062. Later, House Dai Da Chi and Renshield's Dragoons would be moved off world as the 5th Confederation Reserve Cavalry took over the garrisoning of Tantara. In 3063, the St. Ives Compact would later retake the world when the 1st Janissaries attacked. Then an unknown Capellan force would retake Tantara and finally drive off the Compact troops for good.[35]
While the above information is not confirmed, the seizure of Tantara by the Capellans is credited as spurring the first peace talks between the combatants that would end the conflict.[35]
