Theodore Cameron (26th c.)

Theodore Cameron (Born 2434 - Died 2479)[1] was a House Cameron Nobleman, Tank Officer, and the 9th Director-General of the Terran Hegemony.

Character Description

Theodore personality effected by his up brings by his ego-centric father. He was spoiled man, who lived good life while his was indecisive in affairs of the state with exception of military.[2]

History

Early Life and Career

Child of Director-General Jacob Cameron and actress Constance Zel, Theodore was raised comforts of his egoistic family. He joined HAF as officer, was part of 132nd Heavy Armor Regiment command.[3]

As Director-General of the Terran Hegemony

Theodore The Decadent

After his father's stroke in 2461, he became Director-General. Years of his father reign had strained relations with people and the Directorship, hoping Theodore would be better leader. However, when time came to vote for whom would be Director-General, only 25 percent of the population voted to have Theodore installed. This showed that public was very wary of new leader.

Their worries prove to be correct, though strong and deceive on affairs of military related issues. He was indecisive and ineffective when making decisions on regarding civilian related topics such as re-structuring taxes. This help fuel people's anger due to inflation and shortage of basic goods caused by his father. Theodore continued his father's military build up plan, and ignored needs of the public. He spent large sums of money on himself, buying and building palaces on Terra. Such as restoring the Palace of Versailles and constructing new ones such as Castle-by-the-Columbia, the Chicago Palaces, and build number more other planets near by.[4]

The Alamo and the Assault of the Oriente System

The Alamo Incident

In July 2470, Theodore had the Alamo Mission in San Antonia, Texas demolition for his own oversize ranch he wanted constructed. This outraged the public, with beginning of work stoppages evolving full blown riots. Work stoppage spanned the entire planet within three days of it beginning, with angry people against excess of Theodore Cameron. People would use rally cry against Theodore, "Remember the Alamo!", very much like had centuries before.

The High Councilors seeing that public would over turn government unless they acted. They convinced Theodore respond the correct way to incident he caused. He apologized to people of Terra, and promised to rebuild the Alamo. Within six days of the start of the incident, it ended. The experience changed him, he would become more prudent that he was before. However, it was not enough to change his taste for the good life and its excesses.[5]

Assault of Oriente System

In 2475, House Marik had been secretly bring together an invasion force consisting of Naval WarShips and few of League's prized BattleMech regiments. Anchored in Oriente system, the invasion forces was posed strike the Confederation for rejecting their treaty offers. During the time, relations with Hegemony and League had deteriorate to point the general resentment of Hegemony's attitudes to reunite all humanity under their flag.[6] Newly installed and slightly unstable Captain-General Carlos Marik, Carlos changes his plans and marshals his force attack Hegemony instead with no regards to the Ares Conventions. League aides leaked plans for the invasion to Hegemony.[7] Theodore took personal command of strike force, using the Battlecruiser Kiev, the he lead Hegemony fleet to strike at League fleet. The League forces were destroys the Theodore's fleet who cause them unexpectedly.[8][9]

The strike devastated the League's navy, who's best and newest Warships and ground forces had been assembled in the Oriente system. Also triggered revaluation of Captain-General Carlos Marik and his unseating by his brother Brion in bloodless coup. Years after Marik Crisis would resolve, Theodore would extend peace treaty to Captain-General Brian and would be signed in 2478. Years later, he would attend Brion funeral in 2511.[10][11]

Family & Legacy

Theodore would marry, have his daughter Elizabeth. He would be remembered for his love of excess, destruction of the Alamo and military strike during Oriente crisis.[12]

Notes

  • Theodore's army career is noted in Star League sourcebook, however it questionable due to the date. In Jacob Cameron's write up in the original Star League sourcebook, it notes Theodore being Major in Terran Hegemony campaign against FedSuns/Capellan Confederation. His name is promptly noted in the Battle of Tybalt in 2435. However, Cameron Family Tree shows him being born on 2434. Theodore's age during the campaign as a one year old, making it impossible to be in this battle.[13].[14]
  • Theodore's "death" was originally recorded in 2479, Theodore originally died of pneumonia, due him partying for three days in wet season on Thorin. However, Handbook: House Marik would alter his death, allowing him to live to attend the funeral of Brion Marik in 2511, 32 years after his original death.[15]
