Description
The Wendigo was first spotted with Clan Nova Cat forces during the joint Nova Cat and Draconis Combine assault on former Republic of the Sphere worlds. The Wendigo is noted to be one of a series of three Medium Omnimech designs in use by the Nova Cat touman during the Dark Age era, the other two being the Avalanche and Shadow Cat.
+
Designed in middle of the 32nd Century, the Wendigo is a Medium Class OmniMech designed & produced originally for Clan Nova Cat. The 'Mechs creation stems from the results of the Clan's prolong efforts with Draconis Combine's Luthien Armor Works to produce an replacement design for it touman. Resulting Avalanche turn out be less what the Clan had hoped for, so using basic premise as design resulted in Wendigo.

The Wendigo features a Torso Mounted Cockpit. This design feature allowed for the use of CASE and weapon pods in the Wendigos headWhile the skeleton of the machine is of standard Endo Steel construction, the mech is armored with a layer of advanced Laser Reflective Armor.  A 300 XL Fusion Engine allows for speeds of up to 97 kph. The Wendigo does not mount Jump Jets.
+
The Wendigo was first deployed just after the Draconis Combine commenced its invasion of the Republic of the Sphere. After deployment of early prototype models, a more refined Wendigo would emerge to become the Nova Cat's frontline OmniMechHowever, near the end of the "Nova Cat Rebellion", Wendgio's production faculties would be badly damaged by fighting between Combine forces and Nova Cat's Gamma Galaxy.  The end of the rebellion and death of Nova Cats would lead to Wendigo being dispersed among Clan Sea Fox and Draconis Combine.

There is some thought that the design was influenced by the Draconis Combine.

Allotted 19.5 tons of pod space, the OmniMech's primary configuration features wide range of long-range and short range weaponryThese include single 10-Tubed Long-Range Missile launcher, with single Class 2 Ultra Autocannon for its long range engagements.  For close-range engagements the 'Mech features four ER Medium Lasers and a single 6-tubed Streak Short-Range Launcher.
Sporting a variety of weapon systems, the only known Wendigo configuration mimics another Clan Nova Cat Omnimech, the older HuntsmanA head mounted LRM-10 system provides indirect fire support, while an arm mounted Ultra AC/2, Streak SRM-6, and four ER Medium Lasers provide direct fire capability at a variety of ranges.

Description

Designed in middle of the 32nd Century, the Wendigo is a Medium Class OmniMech designed & produced originally for Clan Nova Cat. The 'Mechs creation stems from the results of the Clan's prolong efforts with Draconis Combine's Luthien Armor Works to produce an replacement design for it touman. Resulting Avalanche turn out be less what the Clan had hoped for, so using basic premise as design resulted in Wendigo.

The Wendigo was first deployed just after the Draconis Combine commenced its invasion of the Republic of the Sphere. After deployment of early prototype models, a more refined Wendigo would emerge to become the Nova Cat's frontline OmniMech. However, near the end of the "Nova Cat Rebellion", Wendgio's production faculties would be badly damaged by fighting between Combine forces and Nova Cat's Gamma Galaxy. The end of the rebellion and death of Nova Cats would lead to Wendigo being dispersed among Clan Sea Fox and Draconis Combine.[2]

Armament and Capacities

Built strictly with Clan technology, the Wendigo uses advance technology innovations in its design. Among them these new advances, is use of 9.5 tons of Reflective Armor on its hull, while its cockpit is moved to torso. The design features at its heart a 300 rated Extra Light Engine, allowing it to move upwards of 97 kph.

These include single 10-Tubed Long-Range Missile launcher, with single Class 2 Ultra Autocannon for its long range engagements. For close-range engagements the 'Mech features four ER Medium Lasers and a single 6-tubed Streak Short-Range Launcher.[3]

Alternate Configurations

 • Alt. Config. B - Designed for intermediate and close range fighting. The B Configuration features eight Improved Jump Jets to allow its four ER Medium Lasers and six ER Small Lasers to have effective attack its would-be opponents. The design protection is augmented with a Guardian ECM. BV (2.0) = 2,369[5]
 • Alt. Config. C - This configuration features number Improved Lasers and precise missile systems. These include two head mounted Improved Heavy Medium Lasers, with single Improved Heavy Large Laser mounted in the right arm actuator. A single Streak LRM-15 Launcher is mounted in other arm. Rounding out the components is a single ER Small Laser and additional Double Heat sink help cope with the heat. BV (2.0) = 2,548[6]

Variants

Before it entering full production, the Wendigo had limited number of prototypes made. These similar forerunners were also OmniMechs featured a smaller engine with only 10 Double Heatsinks, but had a larger Pod capacity. These slower designs were among units first sent into the Republic as part the Combine's invasion force. However, these prototypes were flawed and fraught with glitches. It was decided to sacrifice its carrying large capacity for more speed and were scrapped in favor the production model.[7]

 • Wendigo-VP Prime - The Prototype Prime's main weapons were ER PPC and LB 10-X Class Autocannon. These weapons were backed up by pair of Medium Pulse Lasers and single ER Small Laser. BV (2.0) = 2,360
