William Matthews was a mercenary officer and the commanding officer of Narhal's Raiders as of 3025.[1]
History
Leutnant-General Matthews, serving with Narhal's Raiders under contract with the Lyran Commonwealth, was stationed on Poulsbo in 3025.[1]
During the Fourth Succession War, Matthews' men and the forces of Hansen's Roughriders were dispatched to take the Draconis Combine planet of Wheel in 3028. Before battle could be joined with the defending Tooth of Ymir, Colonel Davis Heller of the Tooth contacted Matthews and Colonel Gerhardt Hansen and requested that both sides only fight with BattleMechs in order to minimize the loss of life. Both Lyran mercenaries immediately accepted Heller's terms and the ensuing battle on the Red Desert Flats lasted for three days before each side agreed to a ceasefire. Heller saluted Matthews and Hansen, and both Lyran officers saluted their Combine counterpart in turn, before the Tooth left Wheel under the control of Matthews' Raiders and Hansen's Roughriders.[2]
