The 3rd Tamar Jaegers are a unit of the Tamar Jaegers brigade, formerly part of the 26th Arcturan Guards RCT.

History[edit]

After Sarah Regis decided to announce the re-formation of the Tamar Pact to the Inner Sphere at large in 3151, she quickly set about reorganizing the 26th Arcturan Guards into a new model that could hold the territory she had claimed. The three Light Combat Teams became the 1st Tamar Jaegers, 2nd Tamar Jaegers and 3rd Tamar Jaegers.[2]

The unit was first tested in May 3151, when a battalion of the 3rd was send to secure Blair Atoll, along with the mercenary company The Metallicon, but the planet was already controlled by the Clan Jade Falcon Remnants of Khan Jiyi Chistu, and the fight lasted through weeks of hit-and-run attacks; even a frontal assault didn't break the stalemate.[3]

The next combat was in October, when, along with the 2nd Jaegers and the mercenary group Twenty-first Centauri Lancers, the 3rd was sent to claim Pandora to prevent its key armament factories falling into the hands of the Falcon Remnants.[4]

The Falcon forces agreed to a Trial of Position for the planet, but their numbers proved to be much greater than expected, and more aggressive. Though outnumbered by the Jaegers, the Falcons attacked head-on, using artillery attacks and a sandstorm to crush the Jaegers. The task force leader, Colonel Jeremy Cox, was forced to call in its reserve, the Lancers, who crushed the Falcon rearguard. Victory was achieved, and the Lancers were almost intact... but both the 2nd and 3rd sustained over thirty percent casualties.[4]

In January 3152, the partially rebuilt 3rd Jaegers was sent, along with the Lancers, to secure Ballynure and Crimond, which they achieved after a car race. However, on the last planet, they were the target of terrorist attacks from local miners, which forced them to root them down, partially employing the contracted mercenary unit Gray Death Legion.[5][6]
