Major General Berwald Svenson was the commander of the Star League Defense Force's Forty-seventh Royal Mechanized Infantry Division as of 2764.[1]

Svenson led his division on a campaign to eliminate Great North, an armed Rasalhague separatist group, whose main purpose was to protect ethnic Rasalhagians wanted by Draconis Combine authorities for (often minor) political and cultural crimes.
On his rank and file troops discovering they were unwittingly being used as tools of Combine political oppression, as if they were an arm of the Kuritan Civilian Guidance Corps, they nearly staged a mutiny. Major General Svenson was only able to forestall this by passionately arguing the importance of the Star League's unity to peace in the Inner Sphere.[1]
