Gabriel Morales was a Republic of the Sphere officer which turned mercenary.
=History[edit]
Gabriel Morales was native from the planet Callison, and in some time he enlisted in the Republic of the Sphere army as MechWarrior, reaching the rank of Lieutenant, taking command of the Third Lance. He met there the Technician Ji-Young, and both married. By 3151, the unit in which both were had found refuge on the Cantonment Respite, in the planet Talitha, on the Free Worlds League. The 13 June, he and his lancemates assisted to the reproduction of a message from the Exarch Devlin Stone, announcing the Republic's dissolution. That impacted deeply all the present, and soon the soldiers began debating what to do next. When Master Sergeant Helena Winslow ordered the men to don't share the news with any outsider to the unit, also asked Morales in private about his men's reactions to the news. Two days later, Gabriel talked with his pregnant wife about the news, both very worried about their future, specially they still unborn child, Grace. A day later, Gabriel was awakened on his bed by the call of Varin, one of his lancemates, which was outsidse their cantonment after curfew, talking with the mercenary unit Baker's Butchers, expecting to join them, and Gabriel went to get him to the compund. Major Baker talked with him, telling he would like to recruit him for his unit. Morales only said he would think it. The day 20, after he shared the offer with his wife, she didn't like to join the Butchers, which had bad reputation, but lacking alternatives, she finally agreed. In a face to face negotiation with Baker, Gabriel was scandalized to hear the major Baker, in exchange for taking them, expected him to steal his lance's 'Mechs, parts and ammo, and they had to do it and defect from the cantonment in the next day to catch with the Butchers, which were departing offplanet, but finally accepted.
At the dawn of day 21, Gabriel accompanied his wife and lancemembers into their Lance's hangars, finding it deserted. Before they hadn't finished loading the truck they will take, a lockdown was declared. When Master Sergeant Winslow called him, he pretended to be mobilizing his unit to help which was a former RAF faction's attempt to steal some DropShips. That won them some time, but after taking the lance, Winslow uncovered his lie. Before breaching the base's perimeter, Gabriel's lance found themselves attacked by a VTOL Hawk Moth and a Jackalope 'Mech, but he managed to force them to retreat without killing any former RAF member. A day after, he and his wife were on the Butcher's DropShip, departing Talitha. None of both was sure about what to do next, but they planned to stay with the Butchers at least until they arrive on Galatea, and disembarking there.[1]
