History[edit]
Hauptmann Johnson was known throughout his battalion for his extremely bad luck, regularly being downed in battle by damage beyond his control - such as random hits to his 'Mech's gyro, ammo explosions, and even the destruction of his machine's head. Despite this, Johnson was also considered to be extremely lucky for his survival and had elevated the timing of his ejections to an art form. Johnson was a popular officer due to his tendency to lead from the front and because his poor luck made him a magnet for enemy fire - much to the benefit of his company.[1]
During the fighting on Tamarind, Johnson's ancestral Crusader was destroyed due to severe head and gyro damage and the Loki he received as a replacement was promptly obliterated in battle on Niihau. Despite this, Johnson served his Kommandant's command staff by providing reconnaissance data from a HoverJeep that proved nimble enough to avoid his usual stroke of luck. This seemingly broke Johnson's curse, as his assignment to a new 10S-variant Crusader enabled him to destroy a Clan Jade Falcon Eyrie during the Fifth Guards' retreat from Cameron in December 3147.[1]
BattleMechs[edit]
Hauptmann Gregory Johnson piloted his family's ancestral Crusader until it was destroyed on Tamarind. His replacement Loki was likewise annihilated on Niihau. By 3147, Johnson was piloting a new CRD-10S Crusader and the machine served him well in combat against Clan Jade Falcon.[1]
