Sergeant Major John "Guitar" Purcell was an Armor Commander with Wolf's Dragoons during the thirty-first century.[1][2]

As of 3028, Purcell was a sergeant in the First Armored Support Platoon, Komachi's Company, Able Battalion, Gamma Regiment. The First Armored Support Platoon joined the Dragoons' Home Guard after the Battle of Misery.[1]
Later promoted to sergeant major, Purcell remained part of the Home Guard for some time, being well known for being an enthusiastic musician who loved rock music. This passion was to lead him to install a music system in his tank, on which he plays his favorite tunes during assignments, with the volume turned all the way up.[2]
