Lara Harman was an upper level design engineer, first with Mitchell Vehicles, and then from 3075 with Skobel MechWorks on Terra.[1]

Harman was the designer of the Thunder Fox BattleMech, which she designed for Skobel using trade secret data from Mitchell's Blue Flame, which she had stolen while working for Mitchell (possibly while secretly on Skobel's payroll).
Harman's theory for the Thunder Fox was that designs associated with the Word of Blake would have a stigma after their defeat, and therefore a new design without that association which nevertheless incorporated their unique features, would be commercially successful. While her gamble paid off, and the Thunder Fox was popular within the Republic of the Sphere, it did not benefit Harman as she was later indicted for war crimes and profiteering.[1]
