Mohamed Kilgore was the commander of the III Legio, from at least 3145 until his death in late December 3150.[1][2]
History[edit]
Prefect Kilgore was the commander of the Marian Hegemony's 3147 incursion into the Free Worlds League, ordering the capture of worlds such as Gibraltar, and insisting they be held at all costs.
He was however caught in the Free Worlds counter-invasion of Illyria. In August 3150 he initially responded by attacking Tormentine with III Legio, after sending II Legio on diversionary raids on Sackville and Merton, with the hope of disrupting the Free Worlds League Military advance.[3]
This being unsuccessful, with the FWLM attacking Illyria in early December 3150 with a large force which outnumbered the Marian defenders, Kilgore sought to reinforce the worlds at the head of four additional Cohorts. However while trying to the Marian Governor of Illyria in the last week of December, who had been captured by the First Tamarind Regulars, Prefect Kilgore was killed.[4][2] As Kilgore commanded III Legio with a reign of fear, as news of his spread slowly spread to his sub-units within the Free Worlds League, their morale collapsed and they quickly surrendered.[5]
A close confidant of Caesar Ignatius O'Reilly, his death was rumored to have more deeply affected O'Reilly, than the later death of his own wife Adrijana Vouk in September 3151. Despite this, Kilgore's campaign in the Free Worlds League was seen following his death as so ill-planned and costly, that senior Hegemony officials considered it would be some time before they could again attempt such offensive actions against a neighboring state.[6]
