Olav Nansen was the commanding officer of the Draconis Combine force that raided Helm in 2788.[1]

Tai-sho Nansen, along with a regiment of BattleMechs and a pair of WarShips, arrived in the Helm system in search of a rumored Star League Defense Force stockpile left behind in the wake of Aleksandr Kerensky's Exodus from the Inner Sphere. While Nansen's troops made quick work of Helm's local militia, the SLDF facilities were entirely empty, leading Nansen to conclude the locals had hidden the supplies. As Nansen's troops were torturing hapless locals for answers, insurgents slipped into the city of Freeport and sparked a fierce firefight that left a company of Draconis BattleMechs destroyed. Enraged and convinced that the Free Worlds League Military had taken the supplies off-world, Nansen returned to orbit and hammered Helm's surface with nuclear weapons. While this succeeded in killing ninety million of Helm's citizens, Nansen remained completely unaware that SLDF engineers had simply relocated the supply stockpile on Helm to a different location, where it would remain intact for centuries.[1]
