Major Samuel "The Rock" Perrow was the commander of the 21st Striker Regiment's 1st Armored Infantry Battalion ("Mighty Mites"), and its Battalion Command Lance ("Rock's Rollers"), of the Eridani Light Horse from at least 3025 until his death in 3029.[1][2]

History[edit]

Perrow was reputed to be a handsome and personable black man, who was quick both to laugh and to defend his men.[3] He received his nickname "The Rock" from both his imposing statue, as well as his willingness to use his Command Lance as an anchor for his whole battalion to pivot around.[2]

Early Life[edit]

Perrow was the son of an Eridani Light Horse Tech, and therefore grew up within the mercenary unit, with a strong interest in armored vehicles. This background led him to join the 1st Armored Infantry Battalion as a tank crewman at age 16 in 3011. From there he was promoted rapidly, and at age 30 in 3025, was considered to be youngest Eridani Light Horse battalion commander ever to that point.

Sometime before 3025, Perrow fell in love with one of the Light Horse's Federated Suns female liaison officers, resulting in her being transferred by her superior Major Robert Green-Davion in order to stop the budding romance. This caused Perrow to hold a considerable, though hidden, grudge against the Davion officer.[3]

Fourth Succession War[edit]

During the Fourth Succession War on 12 January 3029, Major Perrow participated in the Eridani Light Horse's ambush of Warrior House Hiritsu with his unit, on the Federated Suns world of Kawich. During this engagement, Perrow was killed, while attempting to retreat in the face of a Warrior House advance.[2]

BattleMech[edit]

Perrow was known to pilot a Cicada BattleMech.[1]
